The Landes is France’s premier thermal spa region, with many of the historical spa towns dating back to Roman days and your stay at Chateau Robert will not be complete without sampling the restoring powers of a hot mineral or mud bath.
Dax is the center of hydrotherapy and thermalism in the region and France’s first spa destination. Its mud and mineral baths were first discovered during the Roman days and the rich river mud, called Peloide, is said to alleviate the pains caused by Arthritis.
Smaller, but equally renowned is the peaceful town of Eugenie-les-Bains, which besides a thermal spa offering sulfur-treatments, also houses one of France’s best restaurants. The restaurant, owned by Michel Guerard is known for its pioneering Cuisine Minceur, which offers a lighter, healthier version of Nouvelle Cuisine.
